A practical guide to choosing WordPress cloud hosting
Choose hosting around the work your site performs and the support your team needs. Conflicting market-share figures and generic market forecasts in the earlier article have been removed; neither proves that a particular plan suits your site.
Describe the workload
Record traffic patterns, storage, database activity, scheduled jobs and any checkout or membership workflows. Ask which resources are allocated to your plan, what happens at a limit and how additional usage is charged.
Confirm the management scope
Get a written description of responsibility for server and application updates, backups, monitoring and incident response. Confirm response targets and support channels. Managed hosting does not mean every plugin, integration or cleanup task is automatically included.
Test before moving
Use a staging copy to check page rendering, forms, sign-in, checkout and email delivery. Verify a restore and agree on a rollback procedure. Compare the total recurring cost, including add-ons and renewal terms, using the current plan details. Keep a record of the agreed service scope.
