Cloud hosting for small businesses: questions before you move
Cloud hosting is a way to obtain computing resources from a provider. It does not remove responsibility for your website, data or customer experience. Choose it to solve an identified operational need, not because an unsupported survey says other businesses use it.
Identify the problem
Decide whether you need more capacity, less maintenance work, better recovery or support outside office hours. Define a measurable outcome, such as successful checkout during a known traffic peak, before comparing plans.
Compare responsibilities and costs
Ask who updates the server and WordPress software, how backups are restored and which incidents support will handle. Include storage, traffic, licenses, email, backups and migration work in the cost comparison. Confirm any usage limits and exit terms.
Make a reversible migration
Take a recoverable backup, test a staging copy and check forms, payments and email. Agree on the cutover and rollback process with the provider. Keep control of your domain and exportable data. Previous survey percentages and market forecasts linked to placeholder sources have been removed.
